Following up on the preview story of the race cars headed to auction at Mecum Kissimmee – three of those machines, along with hundreds of others, found new owners on Saturday at the Osceola Heritage Park auction.
The top-selling race car of the auction, and currently sitting at No. 7 in the Kissimmee 2023 Top 10 is the 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona NASCAR (main photo). Driven by NASCAR hall of famer Bobby Allison in period, this car sold for $1,430,000.
A bit later in the afternoon, Dan Gurney’s 1968 Eagle Offenhauser Indy Car crossed the block. Serial No. 404 that finished second in the 1968 Indy 500 and won three Indy Car races with Gurney behind the wheel sold for $1,100,000 and currently sits at No. 10 in the Kissimmee 2023 Top 10.
Right after the ’68 Eagle was the 1963 Watson Offenhauser Indy Car driven by Chuck Stevenson at the 1964 Indy 500. The final Watson Roadster built that still exists today brought in $330,000.
Also selling earlier in the week was the 1984 Lola T711 Corvette IMSA GTP Racer driven by former NASCAR champion Terry Labonte. Chassis no. T711-HU02 sold for $104,500.
The top-seller on Saturday, and currently atop the Top 10 list, is this 1992 Ferrari F40. No. 179 of a total of 213 U.S. spec Ferrari F40s built, this 10,994-mile example sold for $3,135,000 Saturday.
